The health and community care industry is dynamic. Young workers (aged between 15 and 24) may provide care in hospitals, aged care hostels, nursing homes, and residential care facilities. They may also provide before and after school care, child care or day care, and sometimes provide care in clients’ own homes.  This industry presents many hazards that are not found in other industries. Workers are often expected to carry out their work in rostered shifts and may work weekends and at night. They work under direct or regular supervision, and within clearly defined care plans or organisational rules.
